Lamphear's hat trick powers Schroon Lake/Newcomb

SCHROON LAKE | Schroon Lake/Newcomb rolled to a 7-1 win over Wells in an NSL Division III boys soccer match Wednesday, Oct. 15. The Wild Huskies struck early and often, opening the scoring just 2:45 into the match when Cameron Jabaut finished off a pass from Logan Phillips. Peyton Phillips added a second goal in the 11th minute, again set up by Phillips. Camden Lamphear extended the lead with an unassisted strike at 13:00 and added another in the 21st minute off a Daniel Pelkey assist for a 4-0 advantage. Wells got on the board in the 27th minute when Noah Brown converted a pass from Hunter Passmore to make it 4-1 at halftime. Schroon Lake/Newcomb pulled away in the second half. Nathan Melville scored in the 47th minute off Lamphear's setup, Lamphear completed his hat trick just three minutes later, and Phillips capped the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 64th minute. Lamphear finished with three goals and an assist, while Phillips tallied a goal and three helpers. Jude Towers made 18 saves for the Wildcats. First-half goals fuel Chazy's win over Moriah PORT HENRY | Chazy held off a second-half push from Moriah to earn a 2-1 NSL Division II girls soccer win Thursday, Oct. 16. Gwyn Compeau opened the scoring for Chazy with 19:10 left in the first half, and Marin Juneau doubled the lead with just over six minutes remaining before the break. Moriah cut the deficit to one with 25:21 left in regulation when Lexi Mascarenas converted a penalty kick. Despite sustained pressure, the Eagles' defense and strong play from goalkeeper Calleigh Clark preserved the one-goal lead. Moriah held a slight edge in shot attempts, 13-11. Clark made 11 saves for Chazy, while Sophia Taylor recorded nine stops for the Vikings. Munson, Drinkwine help Ti hold off Schroon Lake/Newcomb SCHROON LAKE | Ticonderoga held off Schroon Lake/Newcomb for a 2-1 non-league girls soccer victory Friday, Oct. 17, thanks to two first-half goals from Addie Munson. Munson opened the scoring just 2:54 into the match on an assist from Natalie Cook and added her second goal at 11:29, assisted by Mara Cossey, giving the Sentinels a 2-0 lead. Ellie Smith scored unassisted for the Wild Huskies three minutes into the second half (3:23), cutting the deficit to 2-1, but Schroon Lake/Newcomb could not find the equalizer. Ticonderoga goalkeeper MJ Drinkwine recorded seven saves, while Sydney Hart of Schroon Lake/Newcomb made five stops.
