Maj. Peter Arcadi appointed Troop B Commander

RAY BROOK | The New York State Police have announced the appointment of Major Peter C. Arcadi as the 29th Troop Commander of Troop B, following his previous role as Captain of Zone 3 within the same Troop. Major Arcadi began his distinguished career by entering the New York State Police Academy on Feb. 14, 2005. Upon graduation, he was assigned to Troop B, SP Massena. In 2012, he was promoted to Sergeant and assigned to SP Ray Brook, where he became Sergeant/Station Commander in 2014. He later transferred back to SP Massena in 2016, continuing in the same capacity. In April 2018, Major Arcadi was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to Zone 1 in Plattsburgh. Two years later, in May 2020, he was appointed Acting Administrative Captain at the Troop B Headquarters in Ray Brook, officially assuming the role in May 2021. In October 2024, he was assigned as Zone 3 Commander, serving in that position until his promotion to Major in September 2025. A lifelong resident of the North Country, Major Arcadi grew up in St. Regis Falls, Franklin County, and is one of only two Troop B Commanders to have been born and raised in the region. He graduated from Clarkson University in 2002 with a degree in Physics. Major Arcadi comes from a proud family tradition of State Police service. He is a second-generation Trooper, following in the footsteps of his father, retired Senior Investigator Peter J. Arcadi, and his uncle, retired Senior Investigator Charles E. Bishop. His brothers, Investigator Nicholas W. Arcadi and Sergeant/Station Commander Daniel J. Arcadi, as well as his son, Peter A. Arcadi, and several cousins, also serve in State service. He and his family reside in the North Country. Troop B encompasses 20 stations across five counties: Clinton, Essex, Franklin, St. Lawrence, and Hamilton. "It is an honor to serve as the Troop B Commander and continue my family's tradition of providing professional police service to the people of New York State," said Major Arcadi. "I am committed to ensuring the residents of the North Country are treated fairly and receive the highest level of service from our members." Major Arcadi officially assumed command of Troop B on Sept. 25, succeeding Major Brent M. Davison, who retired after a distinguished career with the New York State Police.
