Ballots set in Warren County for 2025 elections

LAKE GEORGE | Election Day is Nov. 4 this year with early voting polls open from Oct. 25 through Nov. 2. There are two Early Voting sites in Warren County. One is in Lake George at the Warren County Municipal Center in the Human Services Building, 1340 State Rt. 9. The other is in Glens Falls at the Parish Hall, Church of the Messiah located at 296 Glen St. STATE PROPOSITION A statewide proposition on the back of every ballot seeks to amend the New York State Constitution to allow improvements for skiing and trail facilities on state-owned Adirondack Park land at Mount Van Hoevenberg in North Elba, Essex County. The site encompasses 1,039 acres, and the amendment requires New York State to add 2,500 acres of new forest land in Adirondack Park. A "Yes" vote authorizes new ski trails and related facilities in the Adirondack Park forest preserve. A "No" vote does not authorize this use. COUNTY ELECTIONS Three uncontested county-level positions are on the 2025 General Election ballot. Eric C. Schwenker is running unopposed for the 10-year term as Warren County Family Court judge. He is running on Republican (R) and Conservative (C) party lines. Jason Carusone (R,C) is running for Warren County district attorney. Paul Bachman (R) is running for county coroner. TOWN AND CITY RACES Elections on the town level have few contested races this year. Two candidates are seeking the mayor's seat in the City of Glens Falls and three of the five ward council races there are contested. Ballots have contested races for supervisor in the towns of Johnsburg, Queensbury and Stony Creek. One town-wide proposition No. 1 is going before voters in the Town of Horicon. And Crandall Library funding is proposed on the back of ballots in the City of Glens Falls and Town of Queensbury. Five candidates are running in Queensbury to fill four positions as county supervisor at large. BOLTON Elections for town supervisor brought Ronald Conover (R,C) to the ballot, unopposed. A contested race for town clerk drew two candidates, Karly Calzada, an independent (I), and Erin Pratt (R,I) Edward G. White (R) is running unopposed for the four-year position as town justice. Two candidates are running for the two open seats on the Bolton Town Council, both are Republicans, William Sherman and Douglas J. Wholey (R). Two candidates are on the ballot for superintendent of highways, Matthew Coon (R) and Democratic (D) candidate Bernard A. Russell. CHESTER James P. McDermott (R) is running uncontested for town justice. Three open seats on the Town of Chester Town Council drew three candidates. The two three-year terms drew two candidates, Karen L. Durose (R,I) and Lawrence J. Turcotte (R). An unexpired two-year seat drew two candidates, Stephen J. Durkish (R) and Marion Eagan (I). CITY OF GLENS FALLS A proposition on the back of the ballot in Glens Falls seeks funding for the Crandall Public Library District. It says: The proposed 2026 budget of the Crandall Public Library District is $6,020,940 to be partially funded by the municipalities comprising the Library District. The share of the proposed budget to be partially funded and raised by an ad valorem assessment upon the real property located within the City of Glens Falls is $912,647. Voters can check Yes or No. Mayor's race: Two candidates are running to serve as mayor of Glens Falls: S. William Collins (C,I) and Diana Palmer (D,I). Mary Gooden (D) is running for the post as City Council member at large. Ward 1 Jack Diamond (D) is running uncontested for the city's Ward 1 supervisor. The open seat for Ward 1 councilor brought Daniel Donohue (D,I) to the ballot, uncontested. Ward 2 Haley Gilligan (D) is running uncontested for Ward 2 supervisor. Robert J. Landry (R,C) is running unopposed for Ward 2 councilmember. Ward 3 Two candidates are running for Ward 3 supervisor, Magen MacDavid (R,I) and Nancy Turner (D). Two candidates are running for the Ward 3 councilmember seat, Daniel Rice (D) and Matthew C. Webster (R). Ward 4 Daniel F. Bruno (R,C) is seeking the Ward 4 supervisor's post, uncontested. Two candidates are running for one open seat on the Ward 4 council, Sarah Driscoll (R,I) and Benjamin Lapham (D,I). Ward 5 Bennet F. Driscoll (D,C) is running uncontested for the supervisor's seat. Two candidates are running for Ward 5 city councilor, Robert Curtis (R) and Sean P. Palladino (D). HAGUE Joshua Patchett (D,I) is running unopposed for town supervisor. Leslie R. Midgley (D) is running unopposed for town justice. Three candidates are vying for two open seats on the Town of Hague Town Council: Maureen Cherubini (R), Edna Frasier (R) and Christopher Richards (D). HORICON Proposition No. 1 is on the back of the ballot. Horicon voters are being asked to weigh in on a proposed amendment to the town's Length of Service Award Program that benefits firefighters. The Town Council passed a resolution June 19 to amend the Defined Benefit Length of Service Award Program, starting Jan. 1, 2026. The proposed amendment would increase the monthly service award from $20 to $25 for all years of service credit earned after Jan. 1, 2026. This would increase the maximum monthly benefit from $800 to $1,000. Service awards earned in years before Jan. 1, 2026 would remain at the amount in effect during the year it was accrued. The program was established for active volunteer firefighters of the Horicon Fire Department and will continue to be administered by the town. The current funding contribution for the program is approximately $30,000 with the average cost for each participating volunteer firefighter who earns service credit at approximately $1,410. The funding contribution for the amended program is estimated to be $39,000 with the average cost per participating volunteer firefighter earning service credit increasing to $1,765. The annual funding contribution includes approximately $5,000 in annual actuarial, administrative and account management expenses, which would not change as a result of the amendment. Voters can check Yes to approve, or No to not approve the amendment. In town elections, Wayne Butler Jr. (R) is running unopposed for town supervisor. Krista Wood (R) is running unopposed for town clerk. There are three open seats on the Town Council, and the unexpired term is contested. Kayla Carlozzi (R) and Scott Hayes (R) running unopposed for two open seats. Candidates seeking the two-year unexpired council seat are Dianne Dreyer (D) and Michael Hill (R). JOHNSBURG Two candidates are running for town supervisor: Kevin Bean (R,I) and Mark Smith (I). Three candidates are running for two seats on the Town of Johnsburg Town Council, Matt Parobeck (R), Mindy Preuninger (I) and Curtis Richards (R). Frederick T. Comstock (R,I) is running unopposed for superintendent of highways. LAKE GEORGE Vincent Crocitto Jr. (R) is running uncontested for town supervisor. Brian Reichenbach (R) is running unopposed for town justice seat. Two candidates seek the two open seats on Town Council, Ed Pagnotta Jr. (R) and Nancy Stannard (R). LAKE LUZERNE James Niles (R) is running unopposed for town supervisor. Lorri Holcomb (R) is running unopposed for town clerk. Two candidates are running for two open seats on Lake Luzerne's Town Council: Burgess Ovitt (R) and Pamela E. Petteys (R). Ronnie C. Deuel (R) is running unopposed for superintendent of highways. QUEENSBURY A proposition on the back of the ballot in Queensbury seeks funding for the Crandall Public Library District. It says: The proposed 2026 budget of the Crandall Public Library District is $6,020,940 to be partially funded by the municipalities comprising the Library District. The share of the proposed budget to be partially funded and raised by an ad valorem assessment upon the real property located within Queensbury is $2,007,099. Voters can check Yes or No. Five candidates are running to fill four positions as County Supervisor At Large: Doug Beaty (R,I), Nathan Etu (R), Jason Miller (R), David J. Strainer (D,C), and Michael Wild (R,C). Two candidates seek the Town of Queensbury supervisor's post, Mike Dixon (R,I) and John F. Strough (D,C). Caroline H. Barber (R,C) is running for town clerk, unopposed. Daniel Mannix (R) is running uncontested for town justice. Four candidates are running unopposed for open Town of Queensbury council seats. Ward 1 council race: Anthony Metivier (R); Ward 2 council race: Scott Gushlaw (R); Ward 3 council race: Rachel Hajos (R); and Ward 4 council race: Timothy McNulty (R). Corey Tilley (R) is running for superintendent of highways. STONY CREEK Two candidates are vying for the Stony Creek supervisor's seat, John F. O'Neill (I) and Nathan J. Thomas (I). Susan I. Harrington (R) is running for town clerk, uncontested. Three candidates are vying for two seats on the Town Council, Sandra G. Farrell (R), Preston Russell (I) and Johanna Webster (R). Neil P. Bradley (R) is running unopposed for superintendent of highways. THURMAN Debra C. Runyon (R) is running for town supervisor, unopposed. Cynthia R. Hyde (D) is running for town clerk, unopposed. Two open seats on Town Council drew two candidates to the ballot: Eugene F. Barnaby Jr. (R) and Douglas H. Needham (R). Patrick S. Wood (R) is running unopposed for superintendent of highways. WARRENSBURG Kevin B. Geraghty (R) is running unopposed for town supervisor. Two candidates are on the ballot for two open town justice seats: Kathleen Ferullo (R) and Mindy Fisk (R). Four candidates are vying for two seats on the Town Council: J. Scott Combs (R), Karl J. Duell IV (I), Bryan Rounds (R) and Janet Tallman (I). EARLY VOTING Early voting in New York State begins Oct. 25 and continues for nine days. There are two early voting poll sites in Warren County. One is located at the Warren County Municipal Center in the Human Services Building, 1340 State Rt. 9 in Lake George. Early voting hours are: Saturday, Oct. 25, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, 12 p.m. to 8 pm. Tuesday, Oct. 28, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All Warren County residents can vote early. When a voter gets to the Early Voting site, they check in to vote, receive their ballot and vote as in any other election. There will be instructions available to familiarize voters with the ballot, and voters may ask election inspectors for help if assistance is needed. New York State voters issued an absentee ballot for an election are not permitted to cast a ballot on a voting machine. Voters who were issued an absentee ballot may only vote by affidavit ballot if they go to the polls for Early Voting or on Election Day, Nov. 4. Absentee ballot applications are offered at the Board of Elections offices during business hours. The last day for the Board of Elections to receive an absentee ballot application by mail or via the online portal in order to vote in the November 4 General Election is Oct. 25, and it must be postmarked by Oct. 20. Ballot information for Warren County voters is online: warrencountyny.gov/boe/ballotoptions The Warren County Board of Elections will hold extended office hours Oct. 21 and Oct. 23 to assist voters who would like to vote in the upcoming General Election. Special hours for these days are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The additional hours are being offered to help those who would like to vote via absentee ballot, to help individuals register to vote, or with any other election-related issue. The deadline to register to vote for the 2025 General Election is Saturday, Oct. 25.
