General Election Early Voting 2025 is Oct. 25 to Nov. 2

ELIZABETHTOWN | In New York State, Early Voting is available for nine days prior to the General Election. This year, early voting polls are open every day from Oct. 25 to Nov. 2. Election Day is Nov. 4 with polls open in every voting district. In Essex County, early voting polls are set up in two locations: at the Lake Placid Beach House, 49 Parkside Dr., Lake Placid and the Essex County Public Safety Building, 702 Stowersville Rd. in Lewis. The buildings are accessible to all voters. Early voting polls will be open on the following dates and times: Saturday, Oct. 25: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27: 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29: 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Voting on an early voting day is the same as voting on Election Day, the Board of Election explains. "When you get to the early voting polling location, you check in to vote, receive your ballot, and vote as in any other election." Instructions are available at the early voting site to familiarize you with the ballot and voters may ask an election inspector to explain ballot instructions or for assistance. Voters who participate in early voting are not eligible to vote on Election Day. To check your voter registration, use the state's online Voter Lookup portal: voterlookup.elections.ny.gov REGISTER TO VOTE The deadline for voter registration in New York State is Oct. 25. There is no same-day registration in NYS. But a voter could register and vote on the same day on Golden Day: the first day of early voting, which is Oct. 25. A law passed by legislature in 2023 approved the measure because the day overlaps the ten-day requirement for registration. Mail Registration: Applications must be received by a board of elections no later than October 25 to be eligible to vote in the General Election. In Person Registration: Register at the local board of elections in Elizabethtown on any business day throughout the year but, to be eligible to vote in the Nov. 4 General Election, the application must be received no later than October 25. To qualify for voter registration in New York State, applicants must: be a United States Citizen be 18 years old (you may pre-register at 16 or 17 but cannot vote until you are 18) be a resident of this state and the county, city or village for at least 30 days before the election not be in prison for a felony conviction not be adjudged mentally incompetent by a court not claim the right to vote elsewhere ONLINE VOTER REGISTRATION To register online, you will need to use a NY.Gov ID. If you have previously used a NY.Gov ID with another agency, you may use the same login to access the Online Voter Registration portal.
