Jan Corbo

TICONDEROGA | With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our cherished mother, Jan Corbo. She passed away on Sept. 21, 2025, with loved ones by her side. Her family was blessed to have the best daughter, wife, mother and grandmother that one could imagine. Jan was born in Lyon Mountain, N.Y., to William and Mildred Blomstran in 1939, and she had a splendid small-town childhood in Mineville, N.Y. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Corbo, and her siblings, Bruce Blomstran, Dawn Blomstran Polsinello, and William Blomstran. After graduating from Mineville High School, Jan attended Albany Business College. She married Ralph Corbo (also from Mineville) in 1958 and they lived the rest of their wonderful lives in Ticonderoga, N.Y. Their five children, Kathy (Thom) Joubert of Ballston Spa, N.Y.; Jim (Kathy) Corbo of Travelers Rest, S.C.; Joe (June) Corbo of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; Tom (Debbie) Corbo of Alpharetta, Ga.; and Mike (Karen) Corbo of Ticonderoga, were born within six years, and they are eternally grateful for the close family life that Jan and Ralph created. Jan is also survived by eight grandchildren (Jason Corbo, Jill Stewart, Payton Corbo, Heather Corbo, Jackson Corbo, Darrin Corbo, Danny Corbo and Lucas Corbo) and three great-grandchildren (Mia Corbo, Robbie Corbo and Sophie Stewart). Loving and taking care of her family was always Jan's passion and top priority, and she did it so very well. While raising her large family, Jan was always busy, but she was so organized and in love with her family that her children never felt any of the pressures she must have endured, but her selfless efforts are truly appreciated. She enabled each of her family members to have a lifetime of cherished memories that will last forever. Jan married into an Italian family and learned to be an excellent cook on a tight budget and prepared fabulous meals every day for her family of seven. During some of her final words as she was reflecting on her family members, she still wanted to make sure that everyone was covered for dinner. She was always there for her children, creating and playing games and fun activities, nursing wounds and sickness, sewing clothes and costumes, helping with homework, and attending their recitals, school concerts, and sporting events. Jan was always very patient during her "Driver's Ed" lessons with all five kids as they learned to drive. Whether it was driving around town, going fast on the Airport Road, or learning how to handle an automatic shift at the top of Lord Howe Street. She enjoyed shopping with her kids and was always up for doing things with short notice or just going for a drive. Jan was always excited to spend time with all her grandchildren and took great joy in spoiling them whenever she could, and really enjoyed involving them in activities like cooking and baking. Sleepovers were also very special for Jan and her grandkids. Her children and grandchildren have so many fond memories of laughing and being silly with Jan. After all her children reached school age, Jan became the secretary in the Ticonderoga Middle School library, and she worked there for nearly 30 years. With her organizational skills and love for children, it was a perfect career for her. It also enabled her to have so many friendships with teachers and their spouses, who played such a large role in Jan and Ralph's lives, as well as their children's lives. From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, 2025, the family will gather at Wilcox and Regan Funeral Home in Ticonderoga, and they would love to share thoughts and memories with visitors.
