ADKX Gala raises $428K for school programs

BLUE MOUNTAIN LAKE | The Adirondack Experience, The Museum on Blue Mountain Lake (ADKX), held its annual Benefit Gala & Harold K. Hochschild Award ceremony on Sat., July 26, which resulted in a record-breaking attendance of 316 guests and raised more than $428,000, $186,500 of which was generated during a 'lively paddle' to fund its free education program for public schools within the Adirondack Park, bringing free educational programming to more than 10,000 school children across 15 counties this upcoming school year. This event is the museum's major fundraising event of the year. The celebration also included the recognition of this year's Harold K. Hochschild award winner, Adirondack Community Foundation and President & CEO Cali Brooks. Hochschild was the museum's founder, and in his honor, the award recipients were selected based on their passion for the Adirondacks and its people. For three decades, Adirondack Community Foundation has been a steady hand, helping the Adirondack region grow through philanthropy and community initiatives. The ADKX campus was open exclusively to Gala attendees to explore special exhibitions and participate in an outdoor dinner, silent auction, and paddle raise. "We were delighted to honor the remarkable dedication of the Adirondack Community Foundation and President & CEO Cali Brooks. The significant positive change they have brought to the region is tremendous," said David Kahn, ADKX Executive Director. "Thanks to the tremendous generosity and support of the 316 guests in attendance, we had another fantastic Gala. Their generous donations will ensure the continuation of our popular FREE regional education programs. This year's record fundraiser is truly remarkable and a testament to the deep community support that helps foster the next generation of learners." ABOUT ADKX EDUCATION PROGRAMMING Since 2012, ADKX has offered free school programming for public schools in all 12 counties within the Adirondack Park. In 2024, ADKX educators drove more than 17,500 miles to reach students in 65 different school districts across 15 counties. ADKX delivered programming to 10,147 students and teachers supporting grade-level curriculum, literacy opportunities and social emotional needs. Field trips to ADKX, fully funded by the education program, allow students to explore over 20 buildings on the campus to learn the history and traditions of the people and places that made the Adirondacks world famous.
