Westport receives $25K AARP Community Challenge grant

WESTPORT | The Westport-Wadhams Community Alliance (WWCA) has been selected to receive a 2025 AARP Community Challenge grant. With this $25,000 quick-action grant, the town will benefit from enhanced crosswalks, improved signage, benches, and more green spaces. WWCA is one of only 383 grantees selected out of 3,450+ applications from across all 50 states; Washington, D.C.; Puerto Rico; and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The Alliance is actively working in partnership with the Town, State DOT, volunteers, landowners, local nonprofits, and businesses to improve pedestrian safety through beautification and infrastructure projects across the community. "We are incredibly proud that AARP selected the Westport-Wadhams Community Alliance for this investment to make our town more livable for residents of all ages," stated Jen Williams, president-elect of WWCA and Safe Roads Walkable Westport Task Force co-chair. "AARP is a nationwide leader in making communities more livable, and we are honored that they see the tangible value this project will bring to our rural area."
