Saranac's Owen, Ti's Drinkwine highlight CVAC softball honors

PLATTSBURGH | The Champlain Valley Athletic Conference recently announced selections for its 2025 softball all-stars. Saranac's Abby Owen was named Most Outstanding Player for her all-around contributions, and Ticonderoga's Myleigh Drinkwine earned top recognition as the league's Most Outstanding Pitcher. Beekmantown's Michele Barnes and Ticonderoga's Eric Mullen were recognized as co-Coaches of the Year. In 12 CVAC games played, Owen went 17-for-40 with five doubles, one triple and 14 RBIs. She batted .425 with a .477 on-base percentage, .600 slugging percentage and 1.077 OPS. The senior was a starting pitcher seven times in conference play, and she posted a 5-2 record and 3.58 ERA. Owen struck out 50 of 141 batters faced. In the field, she totaled 58 putouts and 13 assists to complete 71-of-72 total chances for a .986 fielding percentage. Drinkwine was superb in the circle. In 13 CVAC starts, she posted a 13-0 record with a 2.13 ERA. The senior struck out 98 batters over 82 innings pitched. Drinkwine's opponents batted .199 with a .282 on-base percentage. She issued only 32 walks over 358 batters faced. Her CVAC season was highlighted by no-hitters against Moriah on April 14 and Northern Adirondack on May 12, when she accumulated 14 and nine strikeouts, respectively. Barnes coached the Eagles to an 8-5 conference record and second-place tie in CVAC Division I. Beekmantown finished as the Section VII Class A runner-up. Mullen guided the Sentinels to a 13-0 mark in conference play, CVAC Division II regular-season title, Section VII Class C championship and NYSPHSAA Class C final four appearance. Since Mullen took over the program in 2015, Ticonderoga has posted a 130-49 record.
