Sean Robert Winchell

TICONDEROGA | Sean Robert Winchell, of Ticonderoga, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at his home on Warner Hill, a place that he loved dearly. Born in Ticonderoga Dec. 17, 1969, he was the son of the late Raymond and Barbara Winchell. Sean recently married his soulmate, Amanda, only because he was convinced she wanted his deer heads. Sean did many things in life. He was the owner of Winchell Logging in Ticonderoga, a business that he loved. He recently semi-retired from logging and went to work for the Town of Hague Highway Department, where he loved the thrill of plowing the snow-covered roads and being the Chief Nuisance Critter Killer. Sean loved to be in the woods any chance he had either logging, hunting or fishing. Anything Sean did, he did hardcore. He took pride in teaching the younger generation his hunting and survival skills. There are a handful of young men that he took great pride in sharing his knowledge with and mentoring. You always knew it was Sean in a crowd because he was always shirtless with his purple cup in his hand that was filled with a screwdriver. He loved to travel, always on an adventure with the love of his life, Amanda, and his little buddy, Brett. Sean was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Barbara (Allen) Winchell, his maternal grandparents Charles R. and Beatrice Allen and Mary Allen, and his paternal grandparents Raymond and Etta Winchell. Left with cherished memories of Sean are his wife, Amanda Benedict Winchell; his daughter, Chandra (Joseph) Garrison; his son, Brett Benedict; his brother, Jason (Susan) Winchell; his in-laws, Tim and Tina Benedict; his brother-in-law, Cory Benedict; his sister-in-law, Jennifer (Justin) Chandler; his niece, McKenna Benedict; his nephew, Trent Benedict; and his grandparents-in-law, Gary and Sharon Cooke. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 22, at the EMA (Employee Mutual Association) in Ticonderoga, beginning at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Ticonderoga Little League in Sean's name.
