Laurence Eugene Bingham

PLATTSBURGH | Laurence (Larry) E. Bingham passed away unexpectedly at his home Feb. 11, 2025, in Plattsburgh, N.Y. He was 79 years old. Larry or Bud, as he was known, was born on Oct. 14, 1945, in Plattsburgh, the son of Lawrence E. Bingham and Mildred A. (Stewart) Bingham. Larry is survived by his two sons, Timothy Bingham and his wife Courtney, and their daughter, Tara, of Connecticut; and Scott Bingham and his fiancée, Amanda, and their daughters, Olivia and Gabrielle, of Connecticut. He is also survived by his sister Joni Bingham of Plattsburgh and his two nieces, Kimberly Thayer of Connecticut and Tasha Thayer of North Carolina. Larry was predeceased by his daughter Crystal (Bingham) Lorenzo of Connecticut, and is survived by her three children, Jaylanielle Herandez, Jonah Leon and Jazlyn Lorenzo. Larry is also predeceased by former spouses Barbara (Martell) Bingham, with whom there were no children, and Lois (Morin) Bingham Smith of Connecticut. Three half-sisters also fell asleep in death, Betty Combs of Arkansas on his mother's side, and Dawn Bergiand of Arizona and Elizabeth Hayes of Illinois on his father's side. Many nieces, nephews and cousins are also remembered and deeply loved. Larry graduated from Plattsburgh High School in June 1964 in Plattsburgh, where he was the IV football manager for a year, a member of the History of Plattsburgh Club, Ski Club, Hiking Club and Bike Club. In 1966, he received an associate degree in business administration with a major in accounting from Champlain College in Burlington, Vt. Larry moved to Connecticut as a young man and returned to Plattsburgh in his retirement. He was a lifelong learner and had interest in eating healthy foods and maintaining a healthy lifestyle for much of his life, and sold Shakley products as a means to attain this goal. He enjoyed being outside riding his bicycle, skiing and exploring the beautiful Adirondack mountains. He also was known as "Junkman" on his internet account and loved to recycle what others thought was junk. Larry was a talker and he will be missed. Larry desired to understand the Bible and was baptized as a Jehovah's Witness in 1966. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, March 30, at the Westside Ballroom at 2 p.m. at 253 New York Rd., Plattsburgh, NY 12903.
