SeaComm grant, scholarship application windows open

MASSENA | Massena – SeaComm Federal Credit Union is accepting applications for its annual Shirley J. Eagles Scholarship and Summer Grant program. Each year, SeaComm awards 10 scholarships of $1,000 to college-bound high school seniors, and five grants of $500 to high school or college students creating their own small business startups. The SeaComm Shirley J. Eagles Scholarships are awarded each year in memory of longtime SeaComm employee Shirley Eagles. Applicants must submit an essay of no more than 250 words on the following topic: How have you been a positive impact in someone's life? Winners will be selected based on a wide variety of criteria including academics, volunteer service, scholastic awards, and financial need. The ten winners will each receive a $1,000 scholarship. Applications can be submitted online at seacomm.org/scholarship or dropped off at any SeaComm location. The deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, May 2. The SeaComm Summer Grant is awarded annually to current high school or college students looking to start a business within SeaComm's membership area. Applicants must submit a business plan describing the venture and how the grant money would be utilized. Top applicants will be asked to give a presentation on their business plan for the Grant Committee. The five winners will each receive a $500 grant to be used towards their business operations. Applications can be submitted online at seacomm.org/summer-grant or dropped off at any SeaComm location. The deadline is Monday, June 2. In order to apply for either program, applicants or their parent/guardian must be a member in good standing of SeaComm Federal Credit Union.
