Bolton sophomore Jaxon Egloff hits 1,000-point mark

LOUDONVILLE | Jaxon Egloff accomplished a rare feat on Friday, Jan. 3. Unofficially, the Bolton sophomore became the youngest player in school history to reach 1,000 career points in Bolton's 56-54 win over state-ranked Loudonville Christian. Egloff reached quadruple-digit points in dramatic fashion by sinking a buzzer-beater at the end of the first half. The 6-foot-1 guard accumulated a team-high 17 points, and Bolton extinguished Loudonville Christian's comeback bid late. "Despite coming up to varsity later in his seventh-grade season, he recently played in his 60th varsity game," Bolton head coach Cody Kober said. "He worked tirelessly in the offseason. As a team, we've competed in the Zero Gravity tournaments in the Albany area, and this past spring, he traveled the East Coast for the Cap City Scrappers' national team. "He'll be the first to tell you that it's a team sport, and he's happy we got the win this evening, but his play supports his teammates, and he's grown into a strong leader we can all count on." Bolton, now 5-1 overall, led by 14 points after the third quarter, but Loudonville Christian was able to pull within striking distance. "We were sharing the ball well," Kober said. "But Loudonville clawed back, and we scrambled to get the starters more looks." Bolton's Liam Foy finished with 15 points, and Jace Hubert contributed 11. Bolton shot 44% from the field and converted 7-of-8 chances from the free-throw line. Jack Bibighaus anchored Loudonville Christian (6-3) with a game-high 18 points.
