Betty Peria

TICONDEROGA | After 95 memorable trips around the sun, Betty Peria of Ticonderoga, N.Y., passed into the spirit world on a peaceful Saturday morning, Nov. 30, 2024. She was at home and surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born in Crown Point, N.Y., on May 19, 1929. She was the daughter of Harold and Beulah Randall. Betty was a proud graduate of Crown Point Central School. She married the love of her life, Thomas Peria, on Dec. 2, 1947, at St. Mary's Church in Ticonderoga. They had one son, Bradford Peria. Betty was not only a dedicated wife and mother, but also a hard-working member of the community at a time when it was thought that a woman's place was in the home. Among the various positions she held over her lifetime, one was clerking at Moore's Hardware in the '50s. During its heyday in the '60s, she waitressed at the Indian Kettles, where her husband, Tom, also tended bar. Betty also worked for a considerable time at the Ticonderoga Federal Credit Union, retiring in 1988. Betty loved her home on the shores of Lake George. She enjoyed taking care of her pool and puttering around her yard. She also loved traveling. She and her late husband, Tom, hit the road whenever the opportunity presented itself. They especially enjoyed excursions with their close friends Paul and Connie Blanchard. In later years she relished traveling to Florida and the Caribbean with her grandsons, Galen and Nick, her son, Brad, and his wife, Barb. Music was a constant in Betty's life. Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, and Wille Nelson were often heard around the house. Betty especially adored listening to her musical family and followed Brad, Galen, Nick, and Becca wherever they played, be it on the road, at home or on the porch. She was delighted when, years ago, her grandson Galen's band took up residence in her basement before going out on tour. She often enjoyed listening to these private concerts in the company of her great-grandson Kailas. Betty was overjoyed when her grandson Nick and his wife Becca introduced great-grandson Noah to the stage while playing guitar and banjo (Becca with the banjo on her pregnant belly) during one of their performances in Saranac Lake, New York. She spent her last days peacefully listening to Brad play his guitar by her bedside while being lovingly cared for by his wife, Barb. Betty was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Thomas, and numerous relatives and friends. She is survived by her son Brad, daughter-in-law Barb, grandson Galen, grandson Nick, granddaughter-in-law Becca, and her great-grandchildren Kailas and Noah. She also leaves behind her sister, Lorraine Ingleston, together with many nieces, nephews and relatives in the Ingleston, Randall, and Peria families. At Betty's request there will be no funeral services. A gathering will take place for family and friends at St. Mary's Cemetery, together with a celebration of life at the family's home on Lake George in the summer of 2025.
