Authorities hope the public can help solve lewdness case

KEENE | Authorities are hoping the public can help identify a man who repeatedly exposed himself to children over the summer. The ongoing investigation started in early July after police were alerted to a man exposing himself to a group of children near the Hulls Falls Road Bridge over the Ausable River in Keene. New York State Police said the unidentified male was an older white male, heavier in size and balding with light-colored or white hair on the sides of his head. He was wearing a light blue raincoat and dark blue pants. The man was sitting on the river bank across from the children and left in an unknown direction and by unknown means of travel around 5:40 p.m. July 9. Police responded to the disturbing report and searched other local swimming areas known to be frequented by area children. As the investigation continued, numerous similar reports were lodged across the Keene and Elizabethtown area. The different areas involved included Split Rock Falls swimming hole located on Route 9 in Elizabethtown and a swimming hole on Route 73 across from Five Mountain Loop trailhead. Throughout all the investigations the description of the unidentified male has been the same. Anyone with information about the July 9 incident in Keene or the latter incidents are asked to contact State Police in Ray Brook at 518-873-2750. Police are also asking any children who experienced similar incidents in other locations during the summertime of 2024 to come forward as any new information could help further the investigation and locate the unidentified male.
