Stefanik votes for Homeland Security Appropriations bill

WASHINGTON, D.C. | Congresswoman Elise Stefanik has voted to pass the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act to secure Northern and Southern Borders and provide Border Patrol Agents with improved technology and resources necessary for safeguarding them. "During my recent visit to the Northern Border in Champlain, New York, I saw firsthand how our brave Border Patrol agents and CBP officers are working hard to keep our communities safe despite being put last under Joe Biden's failed Far Left open border agenda. That's why I was proud to vote to pass the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act to secure our Northern and Southern Borders and make sure our hardworking Border Patrol agents and CBP officers are supported and equipped with the tools and resources necessary to keep our country safe," said Stefanik. "This legislation is imperative as we continue to see record illegal crossings at the Northern Border. House Republicans are delivering for the American people and working to make sure our communities and families are kept safe." KEY CONSERVATIVE WINS Directs the Department of Homeland Security to prioritize deployment of Border Patrol Agents and resources along the Northern Border where encounters are highest. Secures our Southern Border by providing $600 million for construction of the border wall, forcing Secretary Mayorkas to adhere to the law and build physical barriers. Provides funding for 22,000 Border Patrol Agents and $300 million for border security technology. Removes dangerous criminals by providing $4.1 billion for custody operations, which is more than ever previously appropriated, to fund 50,000 detention beds and providing $822 million to fund transportation and removal operations for removable aliens. Prevents the Department from carrying out its equity action plan or advancing critical race theory, rejecting funding for electric vehicles and related infrastructure. Provides $305 million for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program for physical security enhancements for nonprofit organizations and houses of worship that are at high risk of a terrorist attack. Supports American values and principles by prohibiting the government from labeling Americans' constitutionally protected speech as "misinformation." Prohibits funding for providing or facilitating abortions for ICE detainees, and prohibiting gender-affirming care, including hormone therapy and surgery, for ICE detainees.
