Voters approve all northern Warren Co. school district budgets, propositions

WARREN COUNTY | The proposed 2024-25 budgets of six school districts in the readership area of The Sun/Adirondack Journal edition were all approved by wide margins in public votes. All of the spending plans called for increases in expenditures and tax levies. Warrensburg Central School District's budget calling for expenditures of $23.74 million was approved by voters 141 to 41. It reflects a 3.34 percent increase over 2023-24, and a tax levy that increases 2.0 percent. The three propositions on the ballot were also approved, and the votes are as follows. the first, to lease three 66-passenger school buses passed 147 to 34; the second, to buy a Transit passenger van for up to $90,000 was passed 148 to 32, and the third, to allow upgrades to the bus garage, was approved 134 to 45. Benjamin Reynolds and Kristen Constantineau were elected to the two open board seats with respective vote tallies of 155 votes and 149. North Warren Central School District's budget was approved 218 to 48. The spending plan totals $15.48 million, a 2.1 percent increase, and calls for a tax levy with a 4.09 percent hike. A proposition for a $6.2 million capital project was also approved, 203 to 61. The three candidates running, Lindsay Swan, Brian Gereau, and Tammie LaGuerre, were elected by respective vote totals of 214, 197, and 187. Johnsburg Central School District's budget passed 173 to 75. It features expenditures of $12.89 million reflecting a 4.4 percent increase; and a tax levy of $6.72 million, a 4.03 percent increase. For two board seats, incumbents Sarah Williams and Rachel DeGroat were elected with 183 and 158 votes respectively, while challenger Kimberly Burgess received 83 votes. Lake George Central School District's budget was approved, 320 to 78. It features expenditures of $25.47 million, and a tax levy of $22.03 million, representing a 2.69 percent increase. The proposition to purchase one 65-passenger electric-powered school bus for up to $160,000 was approved 284-114. Elected to the two board open board seats were incumbent Katie Bruening and newcomer Jeffrey Meyer, with 327 and 353 votes respectively. Bolton Central School District's 2024-35 budget was approved 153 to 45. It calls for expenditures of $10.62 million, an increase of 2.49%, and a tax levy of $8.56 million, an increase of 2.60 percent. Their proposition to replace the existing gymnasium roof for up to $897,000 was approved 162 to 36. Three incumbent school board members, Pamela Quigan, Maggie Wood and Kathleen Pfau, were re-elected by 170, 17 and 163 votes respectively. Minerva Central School District's budget with expenditures of $6.17 million, reflecting a 1.53 percent increase and a tax levy hike of 2.28 percent, was passed 93-24. For the two open board seats, Nicole Griffen received 99 votes for a five-year term, and Jessica West received 95 votes for a term of two years and six weeks. Doug Green and Jeremy Viele each received one write-in vote.
