Vinnie Crocitto takes over as Lake George town CEO

LAKE GEORGE | Vincent "Vinnie" Crocitto II, a Lake George Town Board member for 22-plus years, was appointed town supervisor April 9 in a unanimous vote of the town board. His appointment followed the April 3 death of Dennis Dickinson, who had held the supervisor post since 2012. Crocitto's term in office extends through December 2025. For the last 12 years, Crocitto has served as the town's deputy supervisor. He is the owner-operator of the Lake George Holiday Inn, the local Super 8 Motel and the Lake Motel and owns various townhouses and apartment buildings. During his lengthy tenure on the town board, Crocitto has been a staunch advocate for the town's youth programs and the development of municipal recreational venues. Also, for decades he has worked on various tourism development initiatives. Recently he was one of the leaders of the Lake George Winter Coalition which brought the innovative Winter's Dream multi-media attraction to town, with the goal of boosting off-season commerce in Lake George. He is known to be bipartisan and progressive, according to his peers. In addition, he worked with Dickinson to accomplish various environmental objectives as well as infrastructure maintenance and upgrades. Also, the two of them worked to expand shared services with the village government, to increase efficiency and curb municipal spending. April 14, Crocitto said Dickinson had served the Lake George community well, and was a "great friend" of his. "We worked well together for 12 years and accomplished many things," he said. Crocitto is known for his ability to follow through on multiple objectives simultaneously. Aware of this trait, Warren County Board of Supervisors Chairman Kevin Geraghty appointed Crocitto to five county board committees, considered a large number for a new supervisor. Crocitto was named chairman of the Environmental Concerns & Real Property Committee, and vice chairman of the Tourism & Occupancy Tax Coordination Committee. Also, he is to serve on the following county committees: Finance & Budget, Economic Growth & Community Development, and Charles Wood Park Operations & Management. Also, he is known to be skilled at balancing his municipal responsibilities and his business concerns — and accomplishing his objectives. Town board member Marisa Muratori said that Crocitto was action-oriented. "Vinnie is good at solving problems as well as dealing with thorny issues and emergencies that arise," she said. "He's great at putting out fires."
