Port Henry business relocating to Main Street

PORT HENRY | Whenever a Main Street storefront welcomes a new business, there is a reimagining of the space that happens, a transformation that subtly marks a new era. On Port Henry's historic main strip, which once boasted being one of the most sophisticated social hubs on Lake Champlain, one entrepreneur will be infusing new life to the area as she relocates her life's work to 3259 Broad St. Vintage Reimagined will propel the theme of professional metamorphosis, while also offering residents and visitors alike a new shopping experience. "My business is full of vintage finds that I have repurposed," revealed owner Nicole Van Buren, the creative mastermind and designer behind the business that officially opened this past fall. "I'm creating one-of-a-kind pieces that you cannot find anywhere else. That is what I pride myself on, you're not going to go to a box store and find anything I am making." Though her products are remarkably charming and thoughtful, unique treasures were at every turn in the old location that opened this past fall, the former remote Tobey Street location wasn't assisting Van Buren in reaching Vintage Reimagined's full potential. "I was so far off the main drag that people didn't see the sign or know I was there," Van Buren explained. "Even with social media it was hard to get people in the store. Being on Broad Street will provide more visibility- there's also no substitute for good old-fashioned foot traffic. The new store will feature not only the retail area up front for the business, but a sizable dedicated work space in back that will allow Van Buren to craft her repurposed gems on site, allowing for both extended hours and greater prolificness. "I'm going to be able to be so much more productive," she said, adding that the kitchen table in her home is full, as is her college-aged son's bedroom while he is away. "This will also allow me to have a bigger space for more events." When Vintage Reimagined debuted in the fall, Van Buren had a vision of offering Sip and Craft events, desiring to bring people together with an interesting entertainment option- a comfortable Main Street space will allow for that to come to fruition. Since opening, Van Buren has been doing a lot of custom work, which is the area of the business she loves the most. Repurposing old furniture or any item near and dear to people and giving it a new life and identity is the true heartbeat of Vintage Reimagined. "I actually want to take in people's items, that's my preference," Van Buren revealed when she initially got the business off the ground. "I will work with the customer's tastes- you want them to love it and do the item justice and see their eyes light up when the finished product is revealed." Van Buren is anticipating an early June opening after a new paint job and many hours invested into making the space truly her own- a showroom, an art studio, and a place customers can simply enjoying being surrounded by Van Buren's whimsical visions. "I am excited to bring in more people that maybe aren't familiar with the area and to keep shopping more local," she said. "I love that I am giving people more options, and hopefully will help in making our Main Street more attractive."
