City Beach to host Eclipse Viewing Party

PLATTSBURGH | The City of Plattsburgh will be hosting an eclipse viewing party at the Plattsburgh City Beach on Monday, April 8. From noon to 5 p.m., attendees can join the celebration for a celestial performance by local indie psychedelic rock band, Ursa and the Major Key alongside local food trucks, activities and more. Local astronomy enthusiast Ephemer ADK will be on site sharing information about the eclipse and views of the sky from his telescope. More activities to be announced in the coming weeks. "We look forward to hosting our community and those who have traveled from out of town at our City Beach. We hope that those who are visiting for the first time to Plattsburgh return back this summer and in the future to enjoy the many amenities, sites and activities our city and region have to offer. We encourage local businesses and restaurants to be open to welcome the many newcomers to our city!" says Courtney Meisenheimer, Director of Community Development. Aside from the viewing party being hosted at the City Beach, many local businesses, restaurants, and parks will be open and hosting Eclipse-themed events. Residents can visit www.adkcoasteclipse.com for more information about local events and viewing parties in the region. The City Beach event is free and open to the public. Washrooms will be onsite for public use. Parking is available in both the north and south beach parking lots free of charge. Traffic is expected to be busier than usual so attendees are asked to plan ahead by arriving early (beach gates will be open all day), or biking/walking to the beach.
