Joan Margaret Brady

JUPITER, FLA. | Joan Margaret (Carew) Brady, 86, of Jupiter, Fla., Gaithersburg, Md., and Hague, N.Y., passed away peacefully on Feb. 2, 2024, at Jupiter Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her mother, Mary Carew, and father John (Jack) Carew. She leaves behind her husband of 62 years, John; four children: Stephen Brady, Colleen Brady, Matthew Brady, and Cynthia (Brady) Cooper, and five grandchildren: John Lippens, Maggie Lippens, Justin Cooper, Ryan Cooper, and Conor Brady. A funeral mass and reception was held at 3 p.m. on Feb. 6, 2024, at St. Christopher's Catholic Church in Hobe Sound, Fla. Joan was born in New York City on July 2, 1937. Growing up in Silver Beach, N.Y., she was the oldest of nine children. Joan graduated from Preston High School in the Bronx and then Mary Immaculate Hospital School of Nursing in Queens, N.Y., where she made enduring friendships. Later, she earned a B.A. in Humanities from Trinity College of Washington, D.C. Joan married Dr. John M. Brady in 1961 and honeymooned at Rogers Rock Campground on Lake George, where they continued to spend their summers. She was always active at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the Hague Senior Center. Joan was blessed to visit her Hauge home, "Lake Music," one last time in 2023. Joan's faith was a guiding force in her life. She dedicated her time and talents to her husband, children, grandchildren, and community. She also enjoyed preparing gourmet meals for her family, sewing clothes for her girls, and painting.
