LTE: A lasting impact

To the editor: Fitting for this time of year, The Sun covered a story perfect for the holiday season. A story that included a generous gift, a truck as red as Santa's sleigh and a very happy fire department. Altona is a wind community. Turbines have been successfully incorporated into our landscape and support the area and its institutions. Since entering the region in 2021 when they purchased wind projects in Clinton, Ellenburg, Chateaugay and Altona, AES has proven itself to be a true partner. The company recently demonstrated its commitment to our community with a generous donation allowing us to increase our vehicle fleet and purchase a new Dodge Ram Bighorn that we will use to respond to emergencies. We would not have been able to do this without their help and we look forward to AES' continued partnership. The company recently announced it will make a substantial investment to repower its four North Country projects. This will ensure the projects' presence in our communities for up to 30 years.On behalf of the men and women who volunteer as fire fighters and the EMS professionals who protect our neighbors, I thank AES.
