State Police search for missing Keeseville man

AUSABLE | New York State Police are asking for the public's help in finding a local man who has not been seen or heard from since February 2022. The official investigation into Stephen J. Houghton's whereabouts began Aug. 18 when troopers responded to Villa Motel on Route 9 for a missing person report after it was brought to the State Police's attention by family members that Houghton had not been seen or heard from since February 2022. Houghton's last known location was at a Stewart's Shops gas station in Port Henry Feb. 20, 2022. Houghton was traveling in an unknown direction and it was unknown what he was wearing at the time. Houghton is 35 years old, approximately 6'2 weighs approximately 225 lbs., has black hair, and blue eyes. Two days after he was at the gas station in Port Henry, State Police were contacted about an abandoned vehicle on Johnson Pond Road in North Hudson. The vehicle was identified as Houghton's. Houghton was not located with the vehicle and authorities could not get in contact with him. Though relatives were advised of where the vehicle was towed to, neither Houghton nor family members retrieved the vehicle. Multiple law enforcement agencies have been contacted about his apparent disappearance and authorities said his loved ones are assisting the investigation. Houghton reportedly has ties to people in multiple different locations and states.
