Clinton Co. approves 2023-24 school budgets

PLATTSBURGH | All Clinton County school districts approved their proposed budgets and propositions. Every vacant school board seat has also been filled. BEEKMANTOWN CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT The 2023-24 budget at $52,749,122 was approved 450 to 218. The school bus proposition was approved 520 to 160 and its capital project proposition was approved 458 to 222. Chris Gadway won the seat on the Board of Education with 351 votes. Troy Anderson had 327 votes, Duane Bibeau had 293, Doug Beebe had 205, Eric Deyo-Pugh had 165, Julia Cross had 153, Maggie Pope had 143, and Sarah King had 134. CHAZY CENTRAL RURAL SCHOOL DISTRICT The 2023-24 budget at $13,089,373 was approved 249 to 101. Eighty-two percent of voters also supported additional state aid reimbursement for an Energy Performance Contract, which will run simultaneously with the recently approved 2023 CCRS Capital Project. Mary LaPierre was elected to a four-year term, earning 304 votes. Lee Barcomb was elected to a four-year term, earning 215 votes. Kelly Andrew had 115 votes. Voters also supported funds for the Chazy Public Library and elected Mrs. Kristin McAuliffe to a five-year term on the Library Board. NORTHERN ADIRONDACK CENTRAL SCHOOL The 2023-24 budget at $25,979,925 was approved 172 to 117. The bus proposition was approved 198 to 93. Steven Bartlemus was reelected for another five-year term with 198 votes. NORTHEASTERN CLINTON CENTRAL SCHOOL The 2023-24 budget of $36,439,646 was approved 469 to 214. The bus proposition was approved 521 to 167. The library proposition was approved 548 to 137. Melissa Bresnahan won the vacant Board of Education seat with 454 votes. Molly Ryan got 201 votes. PERU CENTRAL SCHOOL The 2023-24 budget of $52,977,093 was approved 354 to 179. The bus proposition passed 385 to 152. The Board of Education's proposition was approved 462 to 76. Sarah Mitchell with 401 votes and Stephanie Boswell-Davies with 330 votes won the two open seats. PLATTSBURGH CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT The 2023-24 budget of $50,786251 was approved 464 to 243. The Student Ex-Officio proposition passed 548 to 162. The three Board of Education seats were filled by Rod Sherman, 384 votes; Shauna LaDue, 351 votes, and Bobby Hall Jr., 326 votes. SARANAC CENTRAL SCHOOL The 2023-24 budget of $40,416,336 was approved 230 to 92. The Capital Reserve fund expenditure proposition was approved 273 to 46. The Dannemora Free Library proposition was approved 257 to 59. Tracy Allen-Waite won one Board of Education seat with 194. Dustin Judd got 92 votes, and there was one write-in. Daniel Ashline-Beaudet won the second seat with 230 votes. There were seven write-ins.
