Warrensburgh Beautification Inc. events usher in the growing season

WARRENSBURG | With the return of spring and the advent of a new growing season, Warrensburgh Beautification Inc. (WBI) has set up three events themed around gardening and the environment. First up is its Annual Spring Membership Meeting, which will offer a free presentation — open to members as well as nonmembers — by Sawyer Bailey, executive director of AdkAction, which will give a broad overview of that organization's projects — such as local food systems and access in rural communities, environmental justice, community engagement, land conservation, and working with organizations and communities across the Adirondack Park — with special attention given to its Adirondack Pollinator Project. This event will take place May 4 at the Glen Lodge Bed & Breakfast located at the Glen on Route 28 in Warrensburg. Registration will begin at 5:30 p.m. The presentation starts at 7 p.m. following WBI's 6 p.m. meeting, and all are invited. May 6 is I Love My Park Day in the Warrensburg area. WBI will head up its annual spring cleanup effort by picking up trash, clearing walking trails to the river, and prepping public perennial beds for new growth. Meet at the Farmers' Market Park (State Route 418/River Street) at 9 a.m. Adults and supervised youth are welcome to participate in the effort. WBI will honor National Arbor Day locally with its Arbor Day Presentation & Tree Planting by Warren County Soil and Water Conservation District on Friday, May 12, at 11 a.m. at Echo Lake Park. Senior District Technician Maren Stoddard will explain the vital role trees play in the delicate balance of ecosystems. All are welcome to attend — and bring children — to help plant the sugar maples that will mark the beginning of Echo Lake Park's reforestation.
