Sue Montgomery Corey named 2023 Indian Lake Citizen of the Year

INDIAN LAKE | Volunteers make the world go round. In today's busy world, finding extra time to be a volunteer gets harder and harder. However, there was no greater volunteer than Sue Montgomery Corey, who left this world Jan. 24, 2023, after a long and courageous battle against cancer. At the Town of Indian Lake Board Meeting Feb.13, Montgomery Corey was recognized for her volunteering spirit by Supervisor Brian E. Wells with a special board resolution proclaiming her Citizen of the Year for her tireless volunteer work and outstanding community service. Montgomery Corey served as president of the Indian Lake Chamber of Commerce, helping to provide scholarships for Indian Lake students through the North Creek Rotary, and serving on the Town of Indian Lake Equality & Justice Committee. Additional tributes were shared by Indian Lake Theater President Terry DeArmas. "Sue had a heart of gold and always wanted to do all she could for those less fortunate and worked tirelessly with several organizations; as the North Creek Rotary President she worked to ensure graduating seniors of Indian Lake were presented with the opportunities to receive Rotary scholarships and Honor Roll students received free movie tickets; she provided thoughtful and judicious input while serving on the Town of Indian Lake Equality and Justice Committee; and she attended many town board meetings sharing her wise sentiments in an open and collaborative spirit." Her husband Michael Corey and daughter Emma Corey were present and accepted the memorial resolution commemoration.
